The psalmist is praising God and urging others to praise God for His greatness and the great extent or amount of reasons God (the LORD - God the Father) and His Messiah (Christ) Jesus) is to be praised as "our God" or the God of the Jews. This praise will be with emphasis on the Messianic Age Temple on Mount Zion as the holy place where God will dwell on Earth in the Messianic Age. The psalmist then praises and urges not just the Jews but all the people of the nations to praise God and take joy in Him for the beauty of His Temple and His dwelling in His Holy Temple on Mount Zion in Jerusalem. The psalmist notes that a further reason to praise God for Him and His dwelling in Mount Zion is that He will rule Israel and the nations from there and will make Jerusalem then the city of the great King. Although verse 3 could be taken various ways the way I would take it in the light of the preceding verses in this psalm and in preceding articles on this subject is that God is known in Jerusalem's palaces for a refuge because of His dwelling in and ruling Israel and the nations from the Holy Temple on Mount Zion in Jerusalem. This could still allow for God especially in the person of the Son of God Messiah (Christ) Jesus visiting some of these palaces but I don't think they will be primarily his residence but possibly for Church age, Old Testament and Tribulation martyr saints that God promised would rule with Him in Jesus' 1000 year Messianic Kingdom. The scripture reference from Psalm 48 of the temple of God on Mount Zion as God's holy dwelling place in the Messianic Age as a source of praise and joy for Israel and believers of the nations is as follows:
Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in the mountain of his holiness. Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, is mount Zion, on the sides of the north, the city of the great King. God is known in her palaces for a refuge. Psalm 48:1-3
The king's daughter here refers to Israel as the daughter of the LORD (God the Father) the King of Israel and His Messiah Jesus. These believing Jews are all glorious within because they have the New Covenant with God's law written on their hearts by the Spirit of God as in Jeremiah 31:31-34. They also are clothed with wrought or worked gold which symbolized a nature that is precious and that worships God although there will then also be a time of material prosperity and many of the Jews will probably then be able to afford rich material clothing. The king's daughter being brought before the king is to worship him and this will be in the courts of His Temple on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem in the Messianic Age. The virgins her companions is probably referring to Gentile believers who also have good relationships with the Jews and can be called her companions. This is because they are spoken of as following the king's daughter Israel and God's word or laws the Bible that God gave to them. These Gentile believers will also come before The LORD and His Messiah Jesus the King to worship him in His Holy Temple on Mount Zion in Jerusalem in the Messianic Age. Old Testament, Tribulation martyrs and Church age saints and even holy angels could also sometimes join the multitudes worshipping the King (God the Father in His Shekinah glory and bodily in Messiah Jesus) in the Holy Temple then. All these people, believing Jews and Gentiles or people of the nations and possible Church age or other saints or even holy angels, will then in the courts of the Messianic Age Temple come before God. All these people and angels will come before God with gladness and rejoicing to enjoy all His goodness and glory in the Messianic Age and to express their thanksgiving at being delivered from the ungodly in the tribulation or previous ages. They will enter into the king's palace which probably also means the Temple since is a word that means large public building, a palace or temple and is often translated temple in many other places in the Old Testament. However the temple will also be the palace of the LORD and Messiah Jesus since He will rule Israel and the world from His Temple in Jerusalem in the Messianic Age. The scripture reference from Psalm 45 concerning Israel and the nations coming before God to worship Him with glory and joy in His Temple in the Messianic Age is as follows:
The king's daughter is all glorious within: her clothing is of wrought gold. She shall be brought unto the king in raiment of needlework: the virgins her companions that follow her shall be brought unto thee. With gladness and rejoicing shall they be brought: they shall enter into the king's palace (temple). Psalm 45:13-15
God says in Haggai 2 that he will yet shake the heavens, and the earth, the sea and the dry land. This will especially be throughout the tribulation or 70th week of Daniel and the Second Coming of the Lord Jesus Christ and God the Father with his saints and holy angels. This shaking could also refer in a lesser way to the current time just before the tribulation as world conditions are getting more extreme preparing for the tribulation. God also says here he will shake all nations which again will be in the tribulation and Jesus' second coming in glory with God the Father and believers and holy angels from heaven to set up his kingdom on earth. We mention it in one of the popular Christmas carols I think if you look at the words of that carol carefully the desire of all nations although is rightly identified as Messiah Jesus coming to earth. The Christmas carol's scripture from Haggai says there correctly as it also used in this scripture in Haggai that it is yet future and is primarily for Messiah (Christ) Jesus' second coming not his first coming to earth about 2000 years ago. Further evidence of this is in the remainder of this verse (verse 7) where in the same context God mentions through Haggai that he will fill this house, meaning the house of God or the Temple, with glory. This is referring to God filling the house of God or Temple with His Skekinah glory or outward splendour as was the case in the holy of holies in the Tabernacle in the wilderness and in the First or Solomon's Temple. However this wasn't the case in the Second Temple (Zerubbabel's then Herod's Temple) and certainly not the case on the Temple Mount since the Second Temple was destroyed by the Romans in 70 AD. This prophecy of the desire of all nations coming and God filling this house with glory refers to Messiah (Christ) Jesus and the LORD (God the Father) in His glory both coming from Heaven at the end of the tribulation or 70th week of Daniel and then both coming to the Mount of Olives. From the Mount of Olives the LORD and Messiah Jesus will enter through the East Gate to fill and dwell in, rule from and receive worship from the children of Israel and the Gentiles or nations in the Messianic Age. God is also especially referring to the Messianic Age when He will rule and exert full control of the earth and its resources when he says the silver is mine and the gold is mine. Finally God also says the glory of this latter house shall be greater than the former meaning the glory of the latter House of God or Temple of God will be greater than the former house of God. In Haggai's day this former house of God would refer to Solomon's Temple or the 1st Temple. God also says in this place, the latter or last days house of God or Temple of God when God is filling it with His glory which will not be until the Messianic Age or Millenial Kingdom, God will then also give peace not just to Jerusalem and Israel but to the whole world. The scripture reference from Haggai 2 of the LORD and Jesus coming to shake the earth, heavens and nations in the tribulation and then with His (Their) coming to earth at the end of the tribulation and then filling and dwelling in the Messianic Age Temple and giving peace in Jerusalem and the world from there in Haggai 2 is as follows:
For thus saith the LORD of hosts; Yet once, it is a little while, and I will shake the heavens, and the earth, and the sea, and the dry land; And I will shake all nations, and the desire of all nations shall come: and I will fill this house with glory, saith the LORD of hosts. The silver is mine, and the gold is mine, saith the LORD of hosts. The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former, saith the LORD of hosts: and in this place will I give peace, saith the LORD of hosts. Haggai 2:6-9
Judgments and thrones are given to those who trusted God and Jesus in the tribulation by their enduring beheading for the testimony of Jesus and the word of God - the Holy Bible and through their not worshipping the beast, or his image but their steadfastly refusing to take the mark of the beast. They are assured they will live and reign with Christ for a thousand years. That it is Christ or Jesus that they are said to be promised to reign with is further evidence Jesus will be reigning along with God the Father in the Messianic Kingdom and as seen from previous scriptures this will be from the Temple of God on Mount Zion in Jerusalem. Although these tribulation believers might reign with Jesus over different parts of the earth and different peoples or nations they will still come up at the Feast of Tabernacles and some other times. At these times these saints will come to Jerusalem to worship God the Father and Jesus and probably then to get further advice from Jesus or His representatives how to carry on their local reign with Jesus for the next little while as well as review any concerns in their areas of Earth. The period for this reign which is the period for the Messianic Kingdom passages of the Old Testament including the previous ones in this article will last 1000 years. Only the believers of the tribulation that are killed then and perhaps the remaining Old Testament saints will be raised from the dead at the end of the tribulation to reign with Jesus Christ the Messiah for 1000 years as the first resurrection. The wicked or unbelieving dead will remain in hell throughout the period of the Messianic Kingdom. However the first resurrection probably also includes the resurrection of or transformation into new and heavenly bodies of Church age saints at the rapture at the end of the Church age just before the tribulation or 70th week of Daniel starts. This first resurrection probably also included the resurrection of at least some of the Old Testament saints immediately after Jesus the Messiah (Christ) Himself rose from the dead in Matthew 27:50-53 about 2000 years ago. Everyone who takes part in the first resurrection including likely everyone physically alive or dead who takes part in the rapture will be free from the power of the second death or eternal separation from God and they (myself included as born again Christian) will be priests with God and of Christ. Jesus the Christ (Messiah) will then be primarily both be dwelling in the Messianic Age Temple on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem on Earth. Believers of the present Church Age will reign with Jesus with freedom to have access to Jesus on His throne in the Holy Temple in Jerusalem for a thousand years. The scripture reference from Revelation 20 of the Church and Tribulation and other age saints reigning with God and Christ both which will be centrally from the Messianic Age Temple for 1000 years is as follows:
And I saw thrones, and they that sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ (Messiah) a thousand years. But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ (Messiah), and shall reign with him a thousand years. Revelation 20:4-6
God will cause people of all nations to see his glory when He comes from Heaven at the end of the tribulatation or 70th week of Daniel with His Son the Messiah Jesus and holy angels and believers to set up His Kingdom based in Jerusalem. God will then send those that escape His judgment against those who don't repent and trust in God and His Messiah Jesus also among the Jews to the nations who still hadn't heard about the LORD (God the Father) and His Son the Lord Jesus the Messiah (Christ) and His glory by the beginning of the Messianic Age. God will send them to declare the glory of Himself and His salvation through the Messiah Jesus among the nations. Tarshish is southern Spain and Portugal, Lud is Lybia, Tubal is partly the Siberian city of Tobolsk and surrounding area, Javan is Greece and the islands afar off are the islands or coastlands of the Indian subcontinent, the Far East, the Pacific islands, the Americas and perhaps other parts of the world. These Jews are also instructed to bring some of their brethren (fellow Jews) that would be then very scattered among the nations to his holy mountain of Jerusalem. Jerusalem is where the LORD and Messiah Jesus would be dwelling, ruling and receiving worship of Israel and the nations in His Temple. God will consider these Jews as dedicated or set apart for Himself and serving and worshipping Him in the Messianic Age in Jerusalem and Israel. God will also take of some of these Jews brought back from among the nations for priests and Levites to lead or conduct the animal sacrifices, teaching God's law and praise to God (God the Father and Messiah Jesus) where he will be dwelling in the Messianic Age in His Temple or House on Mount Zion or the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. The scripture reference from Isaiah 66 of God calling some of the Jews to witness for Him and His salvation (through His Son Jesus the Messiah) and bringing some of the Jews dwelling among the nations to help with some of the worship of the LORD and His Messiah in His Temple in Jerusalem in the Messianic Age is as follows:
For I know their works and their thoughts: it shall come, that I will gather all nations and tongues; and they shall come, and see my glory. And I will set a sign among them, and I will send those that escape of them unto the nations, to Tarshish, Pul, and Lud, that draw the bow, to Tubal, and Javan, the the isles afar off, that have not heard my fame, neither have seen my glory; and they shall declare my glory among the Gentiles (nations). And they shall bring all your brethren for an offering unto the LORD out of all nations upon horses, and in chariots, and in litters, and upon mules, to my holy mountain Jerusalem, saith the LORD, as the children of Israel bring an offering in a clean vessel into the house of the LORD. And I will also take of them for priests and for Levites, saith the LORD. Isaiah 66:18-21
One thing that should be kept in mind with this expression here the new heavens and the new earth is that it is probably not the same as the new heavens and the new earth mentioned in Revelation 21 and 22 in the New Testament. While the New Heavens and New Earth mentioned in Revelation 21 and 22 will be created from nothing after the first heavens and earth are destroyed, dissolved and caught away, the new heavens and new earth mentioned here in Isaiah 66 and in Isaiah 65 is probably only about the Messianic Age. The Messianic Age will have new heavens and new earth in the sense that the taint or blemish of sin of fallen angels and man that have cursed this present heavens and earth will be removed with the earth again like the garden of Eden and the heavens freed the curse of the fallen angels. This locally could mean things like the planet Mars again having substantial liquid water on its surface and a substantial atmosphere including water vapour and perhaps a more substantial magnetic field like it had in its early history perhaps before the affects of the curse from the fall of Satan and his angels or the fall of humanity's first parents Adam and Eve. God will through this Messianic Age continue to uphold and honour Israel or the seed of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and their name Israel with the covenants for the land, their kingdom, the law and special national relationship with the LORD (God the Father). This will continue in some form in eternity as well but will be a special feature of the 1000 year Messianic Age or Millennial Kingdom of Messiah Jesus. God will then in the Messianic Age fully resume the Jewish holidays or the Sabbath and New Moons and some of the Festivals like Passover and Feast of Tabernacles not just to Israel but to all the nations on Earth. Not just the people of Israel but people of all the nations will be expected to come before God (the LORD and His Son Messiah Jesus) who will be dwelling in the then much larger Temple or House of God on Mount Zion or the Temple Mount in Jerusalem and worship Him on each of the Sabbaths and New Moons. It is still hard to imagine how every person on earth could then physically fit at one time in even a Temple of God much larger than the current Temple Mount or the First (Solomon's) or Second (Herod's) Temples that previously stood on the Temple Mount. Perhaps the people of the nations (Gentiles) could just come personally some times in the year with different representatives of different nations or regions or peoples taking turns through the year in coming to Jerusalem. Finally God leaves a sobering warning that at least in the first part of the Messianic Age the worshippers will see the carcasses of those who transgressed against God and didn't seek His forgiveness when they come up to worship God in His Temple in Jerusalem. However worshippers seeing these carcasses when they come to worship God in Jerusalem will likely only be the case for the first year or so of the Messianic Kingdom. In this connection Ezekiel 39 makes it clear that in the first several months of the Messianic Kingdom there will be people dedicated to removing all the bones (and carcasses) of those people who didn't yield themselves to God. These will also be the people who didn't turn from their living in their transgressions before and to the time of God the Father and Messiah Jesus coming against all the ungodly armies of the nations at the Battle of Armageddon in Israel at the end of the tribulation or 70th week of Daniel. It will probably be only at the beginning of the Messianic Age that worshippers have to look at the carcasses of those who transgressed against God up to the Battle or Armageddon. However it could be possible that people who transgress or willfully go against God's law in the Messianic Age after a certain grace period will be killed and for a temporary period their bodies or carcasses will be make into a reminder and warning of what happens to those who persist in willfully breaking God's commandments. This would be a warning to those who come up to worship God in His Temple in Jerusalem in the Messianic Age. Their worm not dying means their spirits or souls won't cease to exist and will continue to be tormented in Hell and then the Lake of Fire where the fire both spiritually of God's wrath and actual physical fire on the unsaved people's resurrection bodies in eternity won't be quenched. The scripture reference in Isaiah 66 of the Messianic Age New Heavens and New Earth when all flesh or people will come before God (God the Father and Jesus) in His Holy Temple in Jerusalem to worship Him on the Jewish holidays and to look on the carcasses of those who persistantly or willfully break (transgress against) God's law is as follows:
For as the new heavens and the new earth, which I will make, shall remain before me, saith the LORD, so shall your seed and your name remain. And it shall come to pass, that from one new moon to another, and from one sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the LORD. And they shall go forth, and look upon the carcases of the men that have transgressed against me: for their worm shall not die, neither shall their fire be quenched; and they shall be an abhoring unto all flesh. Isaiah 66:22-24
All the people of the nations that are left of those who came against Jerusalem at the Battle of Armageddon, that turned to God from their sins when they saw Him come in glory from Heaven to set up His Kingdom on Earth, will be required to come up once a year at the Feast of Tabernacles to worship God. (Even though I disagree with them on some major things, like that they have not recognized Jesus of Nazareth as their Messiah or the New Testament as part of the Word of God, I do agree with the partly re-established Sanhedrin and in particular their branch to relate to the nations in their saying the nations in the Millennial or Messianic Kingdom will the 70 nations descended from Noah in the Genesis 10 Table of Nations. This branch of The Sanhedrin is led by Rabbi Yoel Schartz at web site https://the70nations.com.) They will worship God (the LORD - God the Father and His Son Messiah (Christ) Jesus) as the King of the earth and all its people and LORD God when they come before Him to His Holy Temple. In God's Holy Temple the LORD and Messiah (Christ) Jesus will be dwelling and ruling Israel and the world from in Jerusalem. Even though it could be an inconvenience for some people ethnic groups or tribes to come to Jerusalem God will give them incentive for them to still come up once a year to Jerusalem at the Feast of Tabernacles to worship Him with His promise and sentence of no rain on that people and their land it they don't come up to Jerusalem then. If the ethnic group's people still don't come up to Jerusalem despite God's judgment of withholding rain God will bring a plague against that nation or people group and their land probably until they do come up to Jerusalem at the Feast of Tabernacles to worship him at his Temple there. The scripture reference from Zechariah 14 of God's expectation of all people living on earth in the Messianic Age to come up once a year at the Feast of Tabernacles to worship the LORD (God the Father) and Messiah Jesus who will be dwelling and ruling from His Temple in Jerusalem and God's curse on people who refuse is as follows:
And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles. And it shall be, that whoso will not come up of all the families of the earth unto Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, even upon them shall be no rain. And if the family of Egypt go not up, and come not, that have no rain; there shall be the plague, wherewith the LORD will smite the heathen that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles. This shall be the punishment of all nations that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles. Zechariah 14:16-19
Everything, even seemingly mundane things like the bells on horses and the pots in the Temple or LORD's house, in Jerusalem and Judah will be holiness to (or set apart to) the LORD (God the Father and His Son Messiah or Christ Jesus) in the Messianic Age. Then believers of the Jews and the Gentiles (nations) will take their sacrifices especially at the Feast of Tabernacles and seethe or boil the sacrifices in the pots that will be available to offer the sacrifices to the LORD. The ending statement about there no more being a Canaanite in the house of the LORD of hosts means that there will no more be unbelievers of the nations especially of the ungodly nations that Israel didn't succeed before in removing from the land of Israel anymore in the house of the LORD. God would still accept gladly people of the nations who trust in Him and His Messiah Jesus. The scripture reference from Zechariah 14 of everything being holy to the LORD in Jerusalem and Judah in the Messianic Kingdom and people of Israel and the nations to boil their animal sacrifices to offer to the LORD at the Feast of Tabernacles and perhaps other times like the sabbaths and new moons is as follows:
In that day shall there be upon the bells of the horses, HOLINESS UNTO THE LORD; and the pots in the LORD's house shall be like the bowls before the altar. Yea, every pot in Jerusalem and in Judah shall be holiness unto the LORD of hosts: and all that sacrifice shall come and take of them, and seethe therein: and in that day there shall be no more the Canaanite in the house of the LORD of hosts. Zechariah 14:20-21
In this passage about the Messianic Kingdom or Millennial Kingdom God mentions the sons of the stranger meaning the Gentiles or people of nations or non-Jews and in particular the ones that join themselves to the LORD which will then involve trusting in the LORD's Messiah. This is and will be Jesus of Nazareth. However believing in Jesus and God in the Messianic Kingdom will involve some keeping of the Law of Moses although under the New Covenant with the power of the Holy Spirit. This will include keeping the sabbath and the Jewish festivals especially Passover and the Feast of Tabernacles as well as the New Moons. God says he will bring these saved Gentiles who will be either those saved during the tribulation or that are born to those saved Gentiles during the Messianic Kingdom or Millennial Kingdom and trust personally in the LORD during that time. The LORD says he will bring these sons of the stranger that join themselves to him to his holy mountain meaning Mount Zion or the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. The LORD or God the Father says he will make these saved Gentiles or non-Jews joyful in his house of prayer. It is interesting to not that even in his first coming the Lord Jesus Christ called the Jewish Temple of his day a house of prayer in Matthew 21:13, Mark 11:17 and Luke 19:46. This passage goes on to say that these believing Gentiles in the Messianic or Millennial Kingdom will also definitely offer animal sacrifices or offerings on the altar of the Messianic Kingdom Temple where Jesus will be in the Holy of holies and that is mentioned in Ezekiel and other especially Old Testament scriptures. The LORD emphasizes not just for Israel or the Jews but for people at least saved people of all nations the Temple or God's House will be a house of prayer for people of all nations. This passage, especially the term a house of prayer for all people referring to the Messianic Kingdom Jewish Temple, is a favourite term for the Messianic Kingdom Temple where the LORD probably also with His Shekinah or visible glory but especially through the Messiah (Jesus) will be worshipped is a favourite term used by Rabbi Chaim Richman of the Temple Institute that is the forefront of Jewish preparation for rebuilding the Temple. Unfortunately they are actually preparing for the tribulation temple first although they think they are preparing directly for the Messianic Kingdom Temple though many will later see through the lie of the Antichrist and realize the Jesus of Nazareth is the true Jewish Messiah and look forward to His Second Coming when He will establish the true Jewish Messianic Kingdom Temple that will also be a house of prayer for all people. The Church or born again Christians although we might support and observe these sacrifices in the Messianic Kingdom are not under the Mosaic Covenenat but under grace and only under the New Covenant and are God's heavenly or spiritual people so will probably not participate directly or personally in offering animal sacrifies at this temple although others - Jews and Gentiles will. In verse 8 the LORD gives a hint what time he is talking about here when he will gather the Jews or outcasts of Israel to Himself. This started for the final time around the 1880s and continues at this time and will accelerate through the tribulation when Israel will probably be persecuted in the West as well and reach a climax when the final part of Israel or the Jews return to the Holy Land or Land of Israel after the Second Coming of the Messiah (Jesus) in power and great glory at the end of the tribulation or 70th week of Daniel. The LORD says he will gather others besides those of Israel namely some of the non-Jews or Gentiles that will be saved during the tribulation to Himself also to populate the earth and serve the LORD through the Messiah Jesus in the Messianic or Millennial Kingdom of 1000 years. The scripture reference from Isaiah 56 mentioned that the Gentiles who are saved to enter in mortal bodies to the earthly Messianic Kingdom will serve the LORD also in His House of prayer in Jerusalem including by offering animal sacrifices is as follows:
Also the sons of the stranger, that join themselves to the LORD, to serve him, and to love the name of the LORD, to be his servants, every one that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and taketh hold of my covenant; Even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer: their burnt-offerings and their sacrifices shall be accepted upon mine altar; for mine house shall be called an house of prayer for all people. The Lord GOD which gathereth the outcasts of Israel saith, Yet shall I gather others to him, beside that are gathered unto him. Isaiah 56:6-8
